Regular Season Round 7: Rotterdam - Weert 79-62

Bottom-ranked Weert (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-62 loss to seventh ranked Rotterdam (2-4) in Rotterdam on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Rotterdam. Weert managed to win fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Weert to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a great evening for American forward Chris Commons (206-84, college: USC Aiken) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import swingman Trevor Setty (203-89, college: Pikeville) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side the former international power forward Jeroen van-der-List (212-89, college: Indian Hills CC) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Roel Aarts (205-93) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. Weert's coach Radenko Varagic rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Rotterdam maintains seventh place with 2-4 record. Weert lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Den Helder. Rotterdam will meet league's leader Leiden on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Weert will play against Den Helder (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
