Regular Season Round 7: Leganes - Gran Canaria 66-69

The most exciting game of round 7 in the LF2 took place in Leganes. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Leganes (5-2) to leader Gran Canaria (7-0) 69-66 in the game for the first place. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-66. Strangely Leganes outrebounded Gran Canaria 49-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 assists. Forward Maria Royo (178-86) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Kiara Kudron (188, college: Gonzaga) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Paula Justel (186-92) added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Leganes. Gran Canaria have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B with 7-0 record. Leganes at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Alcobendas and Picken Claret. Gran Canaria are looking forward to face Promete (#14) in Logrono in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Leganes will play on the road against Valencia (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
