Regular Season Round 7: Barca CBS - Segle XXI 71-66

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Barca CBS (5-2) defeated bottom-ranked Segle XXI (0-8) in Barcelona 71-66 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-66. Barca CBS outrebounded Segle XXI 30-19 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Laura Johnson (182-91, college: Sioux Falls) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Carla Perez (-91) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Barca CBS players scored in double figures. Center Hermosa Nerea (194-1) answered with 27 points and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field) and Aixa Wone (184-0) added 13 points in the effort for Segle XXI. Segle XXI's coach Ivan Torinos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Barca CBS. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with 3 other teams. Segle XXI lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Barca CBS will face Oviedo (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Segle XXI will play against Cortegada and hopes to get finally their first victory.
