Regular Season Round 7: Distrito Olimpico - Olimpico 64 74-60

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Olimpico 64 (2-5) lost to twelfth ranked Distrito Olimpico (2-5) in Madrid 60-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Distrito Olimpico. Olimpico 64 was better in fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quite impressive performance for center Daira Varas (193-89) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Elena Diaz (188-92) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Distrito Olimpico players scored in double figures. Sara Gines answered with 15 points and swingman Susana Bacete (179-93) added 15 points in the effort for Olimpico 64. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Distrito Olimpico moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Almeria and Olimpico 64. Distrito Olimpico will face higher ranked Magec Tias (#9) in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
