Regular Season Round 7: Lima-Horta - Ensino 86-66

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (4-4) was outleveled by fourth ranked Lima-Horta (5-2) in Barcelona 86-66 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Lima-Horta's pressure prevailed and they won that period 29-16 extending their advantage to 20 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Maquinaria Ensino's 34. Lima-Horta forced 19 Maquinaria Ensino turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Maquinaria Ensino's players. It was a very good performance for forward Ana Alonso (187-90) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. Guard Laura Lopez (171-85) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Lima-Horta players scored in double figures. Lima-Horta's coach Isaac Fernandez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) answered with 19 points and 4 assists and American-Irish forward Fiona ODwyer (182-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Maquinaria Ensino. Lima-Horta moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Maquinaria Ensino dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Lima-Horta will face Arxil Pontevedra (#6) on the road in the next round. Maquinaria Ensino will play against GDKO Bizkaia and hope to win that game.
