Very important is a home loss of second ranked Cangrejeros (10-6) against fifth ranked Metropolitanos (7-9) on Saturday night. Host Cangrejeros were defeated by Metropolitanos in Maturin 77-63. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Cangrejeros. Metropolitanos forced 19 Cangrejeros turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international center Alejandro Barrios (204-79) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Metropolitanos maintains fifth place with 7-9 record. Loser Cangrejeros keep the second position with six games lost.
