Regular Season Round 9: Nanterre - Gravelines 67-89

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (4-5) smashed on the road higher ranked JSF Nanterre (5-4) 89-67 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-67. The best player for the winners was naturalized Congolese Jean-Michel Mipoka (198-85) who scored 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Benjamin Sene (186-94) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Gravelines-Dunkerque players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Johan Passave-Ducteil (200-85) who recorded 12 points and American Jamal Shuler (191-86, college: VCU) added 7 points and 5 assists respectively. JSF Nanterre's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Gravelines-Dunkerque moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Antibes and Chalons-Reims. Loser JSF Nanterre dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque will face higher ranked JL Bourg (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JSF Nanterre will play against Chalons-Reims and hope to win that game.
