Very expected game in Beirut where 9th ranked Louaize (1-5) was defeated by second ranked Al Riyadi (5-1) 87-76 on Saturday. Al Riyadi made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Center Chris Daniels (205-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Donte Greene (206-88, college: Syracuse) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Marvelle Harris (193-93, college: Fresno St., agency: Slash Sports) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Defending champion maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Champville, which they share with Homenetmen. Loser Louaize dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Al Riyadi will face Al Moutahed (#5) in Tripoli in the next round. Louaize will play at home against Byblos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
