Regular Season Round 5: Iraklis - Kastoria 78-68

Very predictable result in Thessaloniki where third ranked Iraklis (4-1) defeated 10th ranked Kastoria (2-3) 78-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Iraklis. Kastoria managed to win third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Iraklis looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Dimitrios Kalaitzidis (198-85, agency: Interperformances) who scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) chipped in 14 points and 5 assists. Iraklis' coach Vangelis Alexandris used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The former international power forward Tasos Charismidis (203-81) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Apostolos Naoumis (198-93) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Kastoria players scored in double figures. Iraklis moved-up to second place, which they share with Holargos. Newly promoted Kastoria dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Iraklis will meet Amyntas Dafnis (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kastoria will play against Marousi and hope to secure a win.
