Regular Season Round 7: CVCD Granada - Alcobendas 74-76

Important game to mention about took place in Granada. Third ranked Alcobendas (5-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked CVCD Granada (3-4) 76-74 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. CVCD Granada was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. It was a great evening for guard Paula Palomares (173-84) who led her team to a victory scoring 30 points (made all of her seven free throws). Center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) helped adding 23 points and 9 rebounds. Alcobendas' coach Alex Pajares allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Rebeca Rodriguez scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four CVCD Granada players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Alcobendas. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Leganes and Picken Claret. CVCD Granada lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Magec Tias. Alcobendas will play against Picken Claret (#4) in Valencia in the next round. CVCD Granada will play on the road against Olimpico 64 (#12) in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
