Regular Season Round 9: Le Portel - Chalons-Reims 96-69

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Le Portel and 12th ranked Chalons-Reims had identical 4-4 record. This time Le Portel used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Reims 96-69 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Chalons-Reims' 36. They outrebounded Chalons-Reims 37-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Le Portel looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Trae Golden (189-91, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 19 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import power forward Franklin Hassell (205-88, college: ODU) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Le Portel's coach Eric Girard felt very confident that he used 10 players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Romain Duport (215-86) who recorded 11 points and 5 assists and American LaMonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island, agency: HMS) added 11 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Le Portel (5-4) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Chalons-Reims lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with five games lost. Le Portel will face league's leader Le Mans on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
