Regular Season Round 6: Sydney - Melbourne 65-88

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Sydney Uni Flames (7-3) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by fourth ranked Boomers (7-4) 88-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sydney Uni Flames. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Sydney Uni Flames 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Boomers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) who led her team to a victory with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Jenna OHea (185-87) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American forward Asia Taylor (188-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) replied with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for Sydney Uni Flames. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sydney Uni Flames' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Boomers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Sydney Uni Flames still keep top position with three games lost. Boomers are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Perth Lynx (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
