Regular Season Round 9: COR Victoria - Victoria 52-80
Date: November 12, 2017
Bottom-ranked Victoria managed to get the third consecutive victory. This time they outleveled fifth-ranked BrGU COR Victoria in Brest 80-52. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 28-point difference suggests that Victoria is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. And what about a third win in a row after ...seven consecutive losses. The game was mostly controlled by Victoria. BrGU COR Victoria was better in second period 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They held BrGU COR Victoria to an opponent 24.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 36.2 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded BrGU COR Victoria 58-44 including 21 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Center Iryna Hryhoryeva (193-1) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) chipped in 15 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was forward Anastasia Golovchiner (178-2) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Darya Panasiuk (176-96) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Victoria. They moved-up to fifth place. BrGU COR Victoria lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Victoria will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BrGU COR Victoria will play on the road against the league's leader Olimpia (#1) in Grodno and hopes to get back on the winning track.
