Regular Season Round 6: Hapoel Eilat - Bnei Hertzeliya 69-70
Date: November 12, 2017
A very interesting game took place in Eilat. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 11th ranked Hapoel Eilat (1-5) to tenth ranked Bnei Hasharon (2-4) 70-69 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as Hapoel Eilat took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bnei Hasharon had a 21-13 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel Eilat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-70. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Shawn Dawson (198-93) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Dominique Archie (201-87, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jordan Loyd (193-93, college: Indianapolis) who recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) added 11 points and 14 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Maccabi Ashdod and Ironi Nes-Ziona. Hapoel Eilat lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. Bnei Hasharon's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hapoel Eilat will play against Galil Gilboa (#5) in Rosh Pina and hope to win that game.
