Rather predictable result when third ranked Shiga L-Stars (8-7) beat at home 5th ranked Shimane Magic (4-11) 78-69 on Sunday. Shiga L-Stars made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Shota Watanabe (180-93) added 9 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Shiga L-Stars. They maintain third place with 8-7 record having five points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with Hokkaido L. Shimane Magic lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Niigata Albirex (#4) at home in the next round. Shimane Magic will play against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
