Regular Season Round 7: Segle XXI - Ensino 61-70

Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (4-4) won against bottom-ranked Segle XXI (0-8) in Barcelona 70-61 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 25-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Maquinaria Ensino forced 21 Segle XXI turnovers. It was a very good performance for forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 19 points and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Helena Pueyo (182-1) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and Aixa Wone (184-0) added 19 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Segle XXI. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to ninth place in Group A. Segle XXI lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will face higher ranked GDKO Bizkaia (#5) in Galdakao in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Segle XXI will play at home against Cortegada (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
