Regular Season Round 10: Latvija U16 - Liepajas SSS 52-65

Bottom-ranked Latvija U16 is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to second ranked Liepajas SSS (5-2) 65-52 on Sunday evening. Liepajas SSS forced 28 Latvija U16 turnovers. It was a very good performance for guard Annija Kergalve (174-99) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Sabine Lipe (176-99) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Center Vika Altrofa (185-2) replied with 6 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Paula Maurina (183-2) added 14 points in the effort for Latvija U16. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Liepajas SSS have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 5-2 record having just three points less than leader Daugavpils, which they share with Liepajas Pap. Loser Latvija U16 still closes the standings with six games lost. Liepajas SSS will have a break next round. Latvija U16 will play on the road against Saldus (#6) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
