There was a minor upset when higher ranked CB Canarias (4-4) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Zaragoza (4-4) 89-77 on Sunday. CB Canarias was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. CB Canarias was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Gary Neal (193-84, college: Towson) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and point guard Sergi Garcia (193-97) who added 19 points during the contest. American Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) scored 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zaragoza have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated CB Canarias. CB Canarias lost third consecutive game. Zaragoza will face higher ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#4) in Madrid in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
