Regular Season Round 7: Tokyo HT - Tokyo Big Blue 98-61

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Tokyo HT as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Tokyo HT smashed bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue at home 98-61. Tokyo HT dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 44. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 57-26 including a 41-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo HT looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Wendell Lewis (208-89, college: Alabama St., agency: HMS) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Tokyo HT players scored in double figures. Point guard Kota Goto (176-94) answered with 16 points and 4 steals and forward Bryan Simpson (197-84) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo Big Blue. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo HT have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Tokyo Big Blue at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Tokyo Big Blue will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Tokyo HT will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Tokyo Excel.. It will be extra interesting game as Tokyo Excel. is their local rival from Tokyo.
