There was a small surprise in Sassari where eleventh ranked Betaland Cdo (3-4) defeated 9th ranked Banco di Srd (3-4) 88-81 on Sunday. Banco di Srd trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 25-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 81-88 at the end of the game. Betaland Cdo made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Betaland Cdo especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian guard Justin Edwards (190-92, college: Kansas St.) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Ukrainian-American forward Denis Ikovlev (200-86, college: Nevada) who added 19 points during the contest. American-Kosovan swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St., agency: BeoBasket) responded with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Marco Spissu (182-95) scored 13 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Betaland Cdo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Banco di Srd. Betaland Cdo will meet at home Dolomiti En. TR (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Banco di Srd will play against New Basket BR (#16) and hope to secure a win.
