Regular Season Round 8: Martorell - Real Canoe 74-105

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Martorell (1-7) was crushed at home by thirteenth ranked Real Canoe (3-5) 105-74 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Canoe. Martorell was better in second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Martorell 46-25 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Jose-Miguel Perez (202-96) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Ander Martinez (199-95, agency: Duran International) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. Five Real Canoe players scored in double figures. Power forward Alejandro Mazaira (202-97) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and Nil Bria (195-97) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Canoe moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Plasencia. Martorell at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Real Canoe will face bottom-ranked Zamorano (#16) at home in the next round. Martorell will play against Cambados and hope to win that game.
