There was a surprise result in San Sebastian where sixteenth ranked Gipuzkoa (3-5) defeated higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (4-4) 71-63 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-63. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and British power forward Daniel Clark (210-88) who added 14 points during the contest. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. The former international forward Carlos Suarez (203-86, agency: Court Side) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Daniel Diez (202-93) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gipuzkoa moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Unicaja Malaga dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Gipuzkoa will face Joventut (#16) in Badalona in the next round.
