Regular Season Round 7: Otsuka A. - Kagoshima 94-61

Everything could happen in Tokyo at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Otsuka A. and 6th ranked Kagoshima had identical 1-2 record. This time Otsuka A. used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Renova 94-61 on Sunday night. Otsuka A. dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kagoshima's 30. They outrebounded Kagoshima 56-26 including a 36-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Otsuka A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 20 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Joe Wolfinger (216-85, college: Citadel) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Koharu Higara (183-93) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and forward Ryuichiro Nakazono (190-78) added 16 points in the effort for Kagoshima. Otsuka A. (2-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Toyoda Gosei. Loser Kagoshima dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Otsuka A. will face Aisin AW (#6) in Aichi in the next round. Kagoshima will play on the road against Toyoda Gosei in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
