Regular Season Round 12: Denso Iris - Hitachi Cougars 60-46

There was no surprise in Kariya where 8th ranked Hitachi Cougars (4-8) were defeated by third ranked Denso Iris (9-3) 60-46. The game was mostly controlled by Denso Iris. Hitachi Cougars was better in third quarter 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 47-33 including 22 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and the former international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) supported her with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Even 6 points and 7 rebounds by guard Aya Tsurumi (164-92) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Cougars. Power forward Reimi Nunira (176-93) added 8 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Denso Iris have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-3 record having just three points less than leader JX-Eneos S., which they share with Chanson V-M. Hitachi Cougars lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Denso Iris' next round opponent will be Aishin Wings (#9) in Anjo where they are favorite. Hitachi Cougars will play on the road against Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
