Regular Season Round 6: Ironi Nahariya - Maccabi Haifa 83-73

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Ironi Nahariya (4-2) beat at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa (1-5) 83-73. It looked good early as Maccabi Haifa took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Ironi Nahariya took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. They also forced 20 Maccabi Haifa turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Maccabi Haifa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American Tyrone Nash (203-88, college: Notre Dame) who scored 9 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) chipped in 20 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Mexican guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) who recorded 15 points and American forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Mississippi) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Nahariya moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Maccabi Haifa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Ironi Nahariya's next round opponent will be Maccabi Rishon (#6) in Rishon Le-Zion. Maccabi Haifa will play on the road against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#7) and hope to win that game.
