Hapoel Afula can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Elitzur Yavne (2-3) 95-82. Hapoel Afula players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American forward Wayne Langston (201-93, college: Murray St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and point guard Ron Sabag (182-90, agency: Dray Basketball Agency) accounted for 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) came up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds and naturalized American guard Clarke Rosenberg (193-93, college: Chicago St.) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Elitzur Yavne in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Afula (1-4) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Elitzur Yavne dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Hapoel Afula's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hap.Haifa on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
