Regular Season Round 8: Beikong FD - Fujian S. 75-91

There was a minor upset in Beijing where higher ranked Fly Dragons (4-4) were defeated by fourteenth ranked Sturgeons (4-4) 91-75 on Tuesday. Sturgeons had a 46-35 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording 42 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who added 16 points and 16 rebounds during the contest. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 21 rebounds and Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sturgeons have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Fly Dragons. Sturgeons will meet higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fly Dragons will have a break next round.
