Regular Season Round 7: IR - Valur 76-90

Leading IR (5-2) recorded its second loss in Reykjavik. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Valur (3-4) 90-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of IR. Valur dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to IR's 42. They outrebounded IR 51-32 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) accounted for 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Ryan Taylor (196-92, college: Marshall) came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks and the other American import forward Danero Thomas (200-86, college: Murray St.) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for IR in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Valur maintains eighth place with 3-4 record, which they share with Stjarnan. IR at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Keflavik and Njardvik. Valur will play against Thor Thorl (#11) in Thorlakshofn in the next round. IR will play on the road against Thor AK (#10) in Akureyri and hopes to get back on the winning track.
