Regular Season Round 13: Helsinki Seagulls - Kauhajoki 67-72

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Helsinki Seagulls (7-5) against fourth ranked Kauhajoki (8-5) on Friday night. Host Helsinki Seagulls was defeated by Kauhajoki in a tough game in Helsinki 67-72. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It looked good early as Helsinki Seagulls took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kauhajoki had a 17-12 second period charge getting the lead and Helsinki Seagulls was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-72. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Helsinki Seagulls' 32. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Stephen Maxwell (201-93, college: CS Northridge, agency: Two Points) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 11 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Helsinki Seagulls. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoki moved-up to second place, which they share with Kouvot. Helsinki Seagulls at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Pyrinto. Kauhajoki will play against league's leader Salon Vilpas at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Helsinki Seagulls will have a break next round.
