Regular Season Round 6: Vichy Clermont - Lille 88-80

There was a change at the ProB leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Lille Metropole (5-1). They were defeated by ninth ranked JA Vichy (3-3) 88-80 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Lille Metropole. Lille Metropole was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Lille Metropole helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. David Denave (193-85) scored 26 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: Court Side) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Stephane Gombauld (205-97) with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American point guard Maurice Acker (176-87, college: Marquette) scored 18 points. Five Lille Metropole players scored in double figures. Lille Metropole's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. JA Vichy moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Saint-Chamond. Lille Metropole at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Roanne and Caen. They were replaced at the leadership position by Orleans. Lille Metropole will play next round against Provence Basket trying to make it back to the top of the standings. JA Vichy will try to continue on its current victory against eighteenth ranked Charleville-Mezieres on the road.
