Regular Season Round 8: Leiden - Rotterdam 92-74

Eredivisie top team - Leiden (7-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat seventh ranked Rotterdam (2-5) 92-74. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Leiden's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-16 extending their advantage to 18 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Rotterdam's 30. Leiden forced 20 Rotterdam turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American center Clayton Vette (202-88, college: Winona St., agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and international Worthy de-Jong (194-88) who added 21 points and 5 assists during the contest. American forward Chris Commons (206-84, college: USC Aiken) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import swingman Trevor Setty (203-89, college: Pikeville) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leiden and five Rotterdam players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leiden have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Rotterdam at the other side keeps the seventh place with five games lost. Leiden will play against Amsterdam (#5) on the road in the next round. Rotterdam will play against Den Helder and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
