Regular Season Round 8: Segle XXI - Cortegada 52-67

There was no surprise in Barcelona where bottom-ranked Segle XXI (0-9) was defeated by seventh ranked Cortegada (5-3) 67-52 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cortegada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Sara Gomez (172-86, agency: ProDep Management) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Salome Garcia (175-92, agency: ProDep Management) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Cortegada players scored in double figures. Aixa Wone (184-0) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Carolina Mateo scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Segle XXI's coach Ivan Torinos tested ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Cortegada moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with GDKO Bizkaia. Loser Segle XXI still closes the standings with nine games lost. Cortegada will face Oviedo (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Segle XXI will play against Ascensores Tresa in Gijon and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
