The most shocking disappointment of round 8 in the Extraliga was a home defeat of 6th ranked Samorin (2-6) to seventh ranked Banska Bystrica (3-5) 61-55. Worth to mention a great performance of center Beata Jassova (190-93) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 12 rebounds and international Natalia Jelencikova (175-97) who added 9 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Simona Marcova (184-94) responded with 8 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian point guard Mirjana Beronja (170-86, agency: ProDep Management) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Banska Bystrica moved-up to fourth place, which they share with BAM Poprad. Samorin lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Banska Bystrica is looking forward to face league's second-placed MBK Ruzomberok on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Samorin will play against UKF Nitra (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
