Regular Season Round 17: Aomori Watts - Hiroshima D. 83-72

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Dragonflies (7-9) lost on the road to fifth ranked Aomori Watts (3-13) 83-72 on Saturday. Aomori Watts made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Joe Burton (201-90, college: Oregon St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 4 assists. Center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Aomori Watts players scored in double figures. Power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Dragonflies. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Aomori Watts maintains fifth place with 3-13 record. Loser Dragonflies dropped to the third position with nine games lost. Aomori Watts will face again higher ranked Dragonflies (#4) in Hiroshima in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
