There was a surprise result in Gijon where twelfth ranked Ascensores Tresa (2-6) defeated higher ranked Joventut LC (4-4) 81-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ascensores Tresa. Joventut LC was better in third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ascensores Tresa dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Joventut LC's 38. Eliana Soriano responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Maria Cordon scored 15 points. Newly promoted Ascensores Tresa maintains twelfth position in Group A with 2-6 record. Loser Joventut LC keeps the eighth place with four games lost. Ascensores Tresa will face Segle XXI (#14) in Barcelona in the next round.
