Regular Season Round 11: GKS Tychy - Slask Wroclaw 96-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Slask (5-6) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked GKS Tychy (5-5) 96-88 on Saturday. GKS Tychy made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for Michal Jankowski (191-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Center Patryk Nowerski (205-91, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Marcin Bluma (201-89) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Maciej Krakowczyk (200-96) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. GKS Tychy moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Pruszkow and Enea Astoria. Newly promoted Slask dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. GKS Tychy will face Enea Astoria (#8) in Bydgoszcz in the next round. Slask will play at home against the league's second-placed Polonia Leszno and will have a slim chance for a victory.
