Date: November 18, 2017
The most exciting game of round 8 in the LF2 took place in Valencia. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Valencia (4-3) to second ranked Leganes (6-2) 67-64 on Saturday evening. Valencia cut a 15-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. They outrebounded Valencia 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kiara Kudron (188, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Esther Moreno (178-85) who added 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Leganes players scored in double figures. Mali power forward Meiya Tirera (186-86, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 24 points and Portuguese guard Maria Bettencourt-Correia (173-91, agency: ProDep Management) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Valencia's coach Ruben Burgos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Leganes maintains second position in Group B with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Gran Canaria, which they share with Alcobendas. Valencia at the other side dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Real Canoe. Leganes is looking forward to face Real Canoe (#6) in Madrid in the next round. Valencia will play on the road against Promete in Logrono and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
