Regular Season Round 14: San-en - Osaka Evessa 54-79

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (7-10) was outscored by fifth ranked Osaka Evessa (4-13) in Hamamatsu 79-54 on Saturday. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to San-en NeoPhoenix's 30. Osaka Evessa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Shinnosuke Negoro (195-87) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. American swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osaka Evessa moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. San-en NeoPhoenix lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Osaka Evessa will face Nishinomiya S. (#4) in Hyogo in the next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play on the road against Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.
