Regular Season Round 6: Cretan Kings - PAOK 73-79

No shocking result in a game in Rethymno where tenth ranked PAOK (3-3) defeated 12th ranked Cretan Kings (1-5) 79-73. It looked good early as Cretan Kings took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then PAOK had a 25-15 second period charge getting the lead and Cretan Kings was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-79. They outrebounded Cretan Kings 41-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. PAOK players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American-Gambian forward Ousman Krubally (202-88, college: Georgia St.) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Antonios Koniaris (196-97) supported him with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. PAOK's coach Ilias Papatheodorou allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals by American point guard Malcolm Armstead (187-89, college: Wichita St.) did not help to save the game for Cretan Kings. His fellow American import point guard Stefan Moody (179-93, college: Mississippi) added 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. PAOK moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Cretan Kings lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with five games lost. PAOK's next round opponent will be Kolossos HH (#8) in Rodou. Cretan Kings will play on the road against G.Larissa-Faros (#10) in Keratsiniou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
