Regular Season Round 8: Gran Canaria - Promete 57-30

LF2 top team - Gran Canaria (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked Promete (1-7) in Las Palmas 57-30. The game without a history. Gran Canaria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Promete's 18. Gran Canaria forced 19 Promete turnovers and outrebounded them 35-14 including a 19-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Erica Covile (185, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) contributed with 22 points and 4 steals for the winners. Gran Canaria's coach Maikel Lopez felt very confident using entire bench saving starting five for next games. Forward Laura Arroyo (181-91) replied with 7 points and Portuguese center Luiana Livulo (190-91, college: UCLA) added 6 points in the effort for Promete. Gran Canaria have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 8-0 record. Promete at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with seven games lost. Gran Canaria's next round opponent will be Adareva (#12) in Laguna which should be another easy win for them. Promete will play at home against Valencia and hope to win that game.
