No shocking result in a game when second ranked Catz Lappeenranta (7-1) crushed at home 6th ranked Forssan Alku (3-5) 97-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. Forssan Alku managed to win fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Catz Lappeenranta especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Forssan Alku's players. The winners were led by American forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina) who scored that evening 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) supported her with 17 points and 7 assists. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Mia Loyd (180-94, college: N.Dakota) did not help to save the game for Forssan Alku. The former international point guard Meral Bedretdin (174-93) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with PeKa. Loser Forssan Alku keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will meet at home ViVe (#5) in the next round. Forssan Alku will play against Aanekosken and hope to secure a win.
