Regular Season Round 7: Amazone - Grasshoppers 46-91

The biggest surprise of round 7 in Eredivisie was guest Grasshoppers' (3-4) easy road victory over 6th ranked Amazone (2-5) 91-46 on Saturday evening. Grasshoppers dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Amazone's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Grasshoppers made 8 blocks. Ilse Kuijt (175-99) fired 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Marieke van-Schie (178-97) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Grasshoppers players scored in double figures. Renee Hoveling (186-94) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jay-Eliza Burgos (173-94) added 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Grasshoppers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Loon Lions. Amazone lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Grasshoppers is looking forward to face higher ranked Binnenland (#4) in Rotterdam in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Amazone will play at home against Loon Lions and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
