Regular Season Round 7: Adelaide - Townsville 78-101

The game between Top Four teams took place in Adelaide. 4th placed host Adelaide Lightning (6-5) was smashed by third ranked Townsville Fire (7-3) 101-78. Townsville Fire shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international center Cayla George (192-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Nicole Seekamp (178-92, college: S.Dakota) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Townsville Fire. They moved-up to second place. Adelaide Lightning at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Townsville Fire will meet Perth Lynx (#4) on the road in the next round. Adelaide Lightning will play against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
