Regular Season Round 14: Ryukyu GK - Nagoya DD 72-59

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Ryukyu GK (12-5) defeated 4th ranked Diamond Dolphins (6-11) in Okinawa 72-59 on Sunday. Ryukyu GK made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 36-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) contributed with 9 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Ryukyu GK's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Ryukyu GK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-5 record, which they share with Chiba Jets. Loser Diamond Dolphins dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. Ryukyu GK will face Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Diamond Dolphins will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. and hope to win that game.
