Regular Season Round 8: Haukar - Njardvik 108-75

The game in Hafnarfjordur supposed to be also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Njardvik (5-3) played at the court of sixth ranked Haukar (5-3). Haukar smashed Njardvik 108-75 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Njardvik. Haukar made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Njardvik's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Haukar made 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Kristjan Sverrisson (194-96) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 4 assists and guard Emil Barja (192-91) who added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. Swingman Snjolfur Stefansson (192-98) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Haukar have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Njardvik. Haukar will meet Stjarnan (#7) on the road in the next round. Njardvik will play against Keflavik (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
