The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Akita Happinets (15-2) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Tokyo Z (6-11) 73-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 35-21 including a 28-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Latvian center Ricmonds Vilde (211-90, college: Houston Baptist) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Tatsuya Nishiyama (171-88) chipped in 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Daichi Taniguchi (201-90, college: SE Oklahoma) with 15 points and international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) scored 7 points and 6 assists. Akita Happinets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tokyo Z maintains sixth position with 6-11 record. Akita Happinets at the other side still keep top place with two games lost. They share the position with Fukuoka Rizing. Tokyo Z are looking forward to face league's second-placed Orange Vikings in Matsuyama in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita Happinets will play at home against Cyberdyne IR and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
