Regular Season Round 11: Gorizont II - Gomel-Sozh 31-70

The game in Minsk supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Gomel-Sozh (5-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Gorizont II (1-9). Gomel-Sozh smashed Gorizont II 70-31 on Sunday. The game without a history. Gomel-Sozh led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Gorizont II to an opponent 21.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Gomel-Sozh forced 26 Gorizont II turnovers and had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Marina Rakovskaia (173-92) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points. Forward Yulya Haponava (185-94) helped adding 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Lyubov Stepanova (165-99) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and forward Darya Semiletnikova (-1) scored 4 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gomel-Sozh moved-up to third place, which they share with Gorizont. Gorizont II lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Gomel-Sozh will meet at home league's second-placed Tsmoki-Minsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gorizont II will have a break next round.
