Regular Season Round 9: San Miniato - Oleggio 71-82

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked San Miniato (5-4) lost at home to eighth ranked Oleggio (5-4) 82-71 on Sunday. Oleggio dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to San Miniato's 30 and made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. San Miniato was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for power forward Alessandro Spatti (204-95, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Dominican guard Shaquille Hidalgo (188-94) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Oleggio players scored in double figures. Guard Ferdinando Nasello (187-95, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 14 points and naturalized Swiss Olivier Giacomelli (198-95, agency: Players Group) added 14 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for San Miniato. San Miniato's coach Federico Barsotti tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oleggio moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Olginate. Oleggio will face Libertas (#16) in Livorno in the next round which should be an easy win for them. San Miniato will play on the road against Montecatiniterme (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
