Regular Season Round 8: Thor AK - IR 71-89

There was no surprise in Akureyri where 10th ranked Thor AK (2-6) was defeated by second ranked IR (6-2) 89-71. IR forced 20 Thor AK turnovers. The winners were led by American forward Ryan Taylor (196-92, college: Marshall) who scored that evening 19 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Danero Thomas (200-86, college: Murray St.) supported him with 18 points. Four IR players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds by American Marques Oliver (201-91, college: Delaware St.) did not help to save the game for Thor AK. Point guard Julius Agustsson (190-1) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. IR maintains second position with 6-2 record behind leader Tindastoll. Thor AK lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with six games lost. IR's next round opponent will be Grindavik (#8) at home where they are favorite. Thor AK will play against Valur in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
