Regular Season Round 8: Anwil - BM Slam Stal 78-76

Tenth-ranked BM Slam Stal (3-3) made lots of trouble for first ranked Anwil (8-1) in Wloclawek on Sunday. Anwil managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected much easier game. BM Slam Stal cut a 17-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. The former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) chipped in 6 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Aaron Johnson (173-88, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) produced 25 points and 6 assists and the former international center Adam Lapeta (217-87, agency: Alti Sport) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. BM Slam Stal's coach Emil Rajkovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Anwil have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record. BM Slam Stal at the other side keeps the tenth place with three games lost. Anwil are looking forward to face GTK (#15) in Gliwice in the next round which should be an easy win for them. BM Slam Stal will play at home against the league's second-placed Twarde Pierniki (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
